Film and series enthusiasts are in for a treat: the eagerly awaited second season of ’30 Coins’, created by Álex de la Iglesia, will premiere on HBO Max on October 23rd. Expectations are soaring following the confirmation at the production’s release, and for good reason.
One of the standout announcements is the addition of Paul Giamatti, an Oscar-nominated actor and winner of two Golden Globes, and Najwa Nimri, the actress honored with the Grand Honorary Award at the 2020 Sitges Film Festival. Both join a cast that already captivated audiences in the first season and promise to take the storyline into new and dark territories.
The plot of this new installment promises to be exhilarating, with the introduction of an “enemy whom even the devil fears.” Without a doubt, this description rises one’s curiosity and prepares the viewer for a journey filled with suspense and surprises. In this setting, a brave country priest, Vergara, supported by the village’s inhabitants, confronts a conflict that has endured for two millennia. The residents of Pedraza, with Elena in a coma and Paco grappling with overwhelming grief, must face an enemy whose malevolence is beyond comprehension.
SYNOPSIS “30 COINS S2”:
When Father Vergara awakens in the midst of hell, it is Lucifer himself who informs him of an imminent danger in the world of the living: Christian Barbrow, a millionaire and eccentric leader of a powerful cult, has just stolen from the Vatican the book of the mad Arab, which contains a spell capable of threatening the very existence of this world.
To perform the final ritual, the millionaire also needs to gather the 30 coins once again, with the assistance of Merche. To thwart his plans, Vergara must collaborate with those who were once his adversaries, and also rely on the help of several Pedraza inhabitants, including Elena who, after waking from a coma, will face all sorts of dangers alongside Paco to prevent the ultimate destruction.
For those who can’t wait, the official trailer for this second season is now available, promising to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and establishing the series as one of HBO Max’s all-time gems.
