The film, with original screenplay by Jimina Sabadú and Elio Quiroga, stars Leonor Watling, Pablo Derqui, Keren Hapuc, Jaime Ordóñez, Mauro Brussolo, Mariano Llorente, Manuel de Blas, and Xoan Forneas.

The shooting of ANATEMA, a supernatural gothic horror film set in modern-day Madrid, took place in different locations in Madrid and its surroundings, as well as in the Basque Country, over a period of 5 weeks, with Luis Ángel Pérez as Director of Photography.

SYNOPSIS
Juana is a nun of strong character marked by a paranormal experience. A mysterious assignment from the Archbishopric will lead her to an old church in old Madrid, built on a network of passageways of unknown origin. There Juana will discover that in the bowels of the building there is something older than the legends that are explained about that place. And the Evil that dwells underground has begun to infect the outside.

Jimina Sabadú (Madrid, 1981) is a writer, screenwriter and director. At the age of twelve he published his first fanzine and soon after he started publishing in popular culture magazines. In 2000 she joined the mythical fanzine Mondo Brutto as a collaborator. He won the Lengua de Trapo award with Celacanto and the Ateneo Joven de Sevilla award with Los Supervivientes.
In February 2020, he published the costumbrist horror novel Las palmeras (Algaida), a novel that narrates the closing of borders due to a disease of unknown origin. This year he published his latest book: The Conquest of Tinder (Turner).
In addition, he has written for television, press and radio. She is currently a regular columnist for El País, and is a regular contributor to El Confidencial and Letras Libres. He has been screenwriter of two feature films (Faraday, La Máquina de Bailar), several animated series for V.O.D., as well as three plays (Hijas de la gran puta, Vacaciones en Eternia, and La llama).

ANATEMA is a production of Pokeepsie Films (Banijay Iberia) in association with Sony Pictures International Productions, with the participation of Prime Video, and will come to theaters by the hand of Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia. After its theatrical release, it will be available at Prime Video.
