EL Pais| The feature film participates in the official section but out of competition along with ‘T2 Trainspotting’.

The director Alex de la Iglesia will premiere his new film, The bar, at the next Berlinale, in the official section but out of competition, as announced Tuesday by the festival organizers. Also included in this section is the eagerly awaited T2 Trainspotting, the sequel to the film that made director Danny Boyle famous, and James Mangold’s Logan, the new work in which Hugh Jackman plays the X-men character. The 67th edition of this film festival will be held from February 9 to 19.

The bar, the fourteenth feature film by the director from Bilbao, is a thriller that starts early in the morning in a central bar in Madrid, where a heterogeneous group of people have breakfast. One of them is in a hurry and is shot in the head on his way out the door. No one dares to come to his aid and everyone is trapped.

The film, which will be released in Spain on March 24, stars Blanca Suárez, Mario Casas, Secun de la Rosa, Jaime Ordóñez, Carmen Machi, Terele Pávez, Joaquín Climent, Alejandro Awada, Jordi Aguilar, Diego Braguinsky and Mamen García.

Films that will fight for the Golden Bear

The organization has also announced several of the films that will compete for the Golden Bear, among them: Return to Montauk, by German director Volker Schlöndorff, Joaquim, by Portuguese director Marcelo Gomes, On the beach at night alone,of the South Korean Hong Sangsoo and Mr Long, del Japanese Sabu.
